Electricity 2013/5124/P2/Q8

Okay,this is a topic under electricity and to answer this type of a question, you need to know some of the basics of electricity.
The first question asks us to find the current through the battery.We shall use the ohms law which says that,

I=V/R
V is voltage,
I is current,
R is resistance.

Now,let's get to the calculations.

That's all for the first question, the second question asks for how long it would take for a charge of 2.0C to flow through the battery.
Here,we shall use the formula below,

I=Q/t
Q=It
t=Q/I
I is the current ,
Q is charge in coulombs,
t is time in seconds.

We are almost there,the last question asks us to find how much energy would be used in moving the charge we were given round the battery.I shall solve this one by breaking down the power formula which is,
P=VI
We know that power is work down in a particular period of time and therefore, it would be,

P=W/t
P is power in watts,
W is work done in joules,
t is time in seconds.

Let's now rewrite the power formula below using the above expression,

Please note that work done is in joules.

There you go,that marks the end of the question which was worth 6 marks in total. All you need to do is practice a lot and make sure you ask your friends and us.Share the post with your friends and make sure you like and follow our Facebook Page at zedtutor.
